[ r e c i p e ] a blusher for the cheeks
Home-made blusher
What is it?
Super easy face blusher with no chemicals that actually looks great.
DIY from the book 'The art of the natural home' by Rebecca Sullivan [page 156]
Price.
Once you have all the ingredients this is way cheaper than store bought blusher and has no nasties in it- just 3 ingredients!
Ingredients.
1 teaspoon cacao powder
1 teaspoon mica pigment or beetroot/hibiscus powder
1 teaspoon arrowroot powder
Where to buy.
For the cacao and arrowroot try your local refillable store. I take my own jars in which is super handy. I bought about ½ cup so I can store it for future recipes.
For the mica- I bought mine from New Directions. I purchased the Iridescent Red Mica, which looks very bright on screen but once mixed up is the perfect colour for me. They have plenty of other colours to choose from.
Method.
Mix the ingredients together and store in an airtight container. I used a tub that previously had my Black Chicken natural deodorant in it.
Apply with a blush brush- tap the excess out on the inside of the lid. You may need to play around with the quantities depending on skin colour.
I use the Eco Minerals super soft vegan brush

Why did i make it?
On my mission for natural, toxin free and waste free makeup this blusher is one of the first makeup recipes I’ve tried and I love it. I’ll never buy stored bought chemical laden blusher ever again.
